Blessed Day

So, I'm one of those people on the fence when it comes to Valentine's Day.  I mean it's a day to show someone you love them and to ask that special person to be your Valentine, but isn't that something you should do EVERY day?  Maybe it is a Hallmark holiday!  I do get the "meaning", but I like to make everyday full of love without some holiday telling me too!

I show my family everyday how much I love them and how special they are to me, so when Valentine's Day does come, I just make it a little bit more special.....and you know what?  The kids eat it up!

My kids are so amazing! They make the biggest deals about every holiday and everyone's special day...birthdays, anniversaries, dates like that!  I love that (among other things) about them!  They will drag out your special day until you had enough, which is NEVER!!!

So, for our Valentine's Day...or a day which I am reminded how much I am blessed, I make it extra special for my three blessings!

When the kids went to bed, I was busy making heart cakes for their special afternoon snack.  They were just chocolate cakes, heart shaped of course,  with pink icing and sprinkles that were heart shapes of red, pink and white.  I have to add that not only did they look cute, but they were very yummy!

I decorated the table with a red table cloth that I had gotten at the dollar store awhile ago and put candy hearts all over for added decorations. I then put some of their gifts on the table for an added surprise when they got up.  We're not big on candy, so we like to get them things that they can actually use!

Breakfast was heart shaped pancakes and heart shaped toast.  For our snack, we had heart shaped jello-o and our drinks had heart shaped ice cubes!  (Can you tell I have fun on this day?)

For school, the kids made special crafts too.  They matched Bible verses about God's love and why he sent his son for us.(becuase he LOVES us!)  They also played games and made door hangers for their bedroom doors.

For lunch, they had a special picnic in the "classroom" while watching "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown."  I hadn't seen it in a long time and this was their first time, so we were all enjoying it and laughing everytime good 'ol Chuck said "Good Grief."

The kids also got their "bigger" gift and then we went to a basketball game to support our team, followed by a night out to dinner!  All together I must say it was certainly a blessed day!

Thank you Lord for my family, for the love of a family is life's greatest blessing!

Fall Fun

 Raking Leaves.....Indoors

So, I am clearly waaaaaaay behind on these posts!   I guess now I'll have to write about 100 in one day!

OK, I won't, but I will start with some fun things the kids and I have been up to in the last couple of months!

During Fall, I had Super Boy rake some leaves into Even and Odd piles.  He had so much fun because he actually got to rake leaves indoors (which we are now VERY use to doing outside). He thought it was funny to do it inside!  Plus, it also gave him a great way to review odd and even numbers.

I threw leaves all over the floor and he had to rake them into piles and then divide them into odd and even numbers. Clear enough right?

It's a fun way to keep the fall theme and learn something too.  Plus you can't go wrong with being dressed up like a firefighter!

Roll A Die To Make A Pumpkin Face

You really can't say fall and not think about Pumpkins.  So to continue the fall theme, I found this really adorable game on Pinterest that the kids and I just LOVE! Pumpkin Jumble Game

The object of the game is to finish your pumpkins face before your opponents. It's fun competition!

You roll the die and then you get to put a piece of your pumpkin on that matches the number you rolled. Roll a one, get an eye.  Pretty easy right?  I can't tell you how many times we played this! Plus it's also a great way to keep one child busy while you're going over something with the other child.
