Learning A Different Language

Last year in Co-op, the kids took Spanish and they loved it! It was the Spanish program with Bob Jones.  Well this year I wanted them to continue Spanish, so over the summer I bought the Rosetta Stone homeschool program.  I ended up getting levels 1-5.  It was cheaper to buy them all together, plus they were doing a sale and it was too good to pass on.

It comes with everything you and your child(ren) will need to learn a new language. Yes, I am doing it too because if the kids decide to plan something and they speak in Spanish, I wanted to make sure I knew what they were saying!

The kit I bought has the Rosetta Stone interactive software with Parent Administrative tools, a parent guide, supplemental education materials CD, audio companion CDs for practice on the go, a headset with microphone for speech recognition and a user's guide.   I LOVE the headset because as we are learning the new words, if we do not say it the correct way, we can not move unto the next word!

We are all loving this program!  I love the way they teach the words and phrases.

We do Spanish about 2-3 days a week.  It's part of the kids computer time.

You never know where learning another language will take them!

Our 2016-2017 School Year

Well, once again time got the best of me and here we are! Another school year!  Like every year, I've made some changes with our schedule and curriculum.  We have been in school for a week and a day, and so far the changes have been getting great reviews!

So, this year I have a 5th grader and a 4th grader! Man, are they getting old! ;)

I usually start after Labor Day, but this year I started the third week in August since our Co-op was starting the last week of the month.  I thought that maybe we could get into the routine and ease into the busy school year!  The kids wanted to start early, but I needed a little more summer before I started another fun year of homeschool!

Both blessings have their core curriculum with Bob Jones. This year though, I switch both their spelling to Megawords.  I've heard a lot of great reviews about their program, so I wanted to give them a try.  In the beginning some of the words are super easy, but it goes over their spelling rules, which I really like.  So far the kids are really liking this. They told me they like it better than last years, so right now it's a keeper. Mini me is on book 2 and Super Boy is on Book 1. You can check out there programs at the following link. MegaWords

Another change I've made is I wanted the kids to do more vocabulary and more independent work. I found Vocabulary Workshop by Sadlier and all three of us are loving it! Every day the kids work in their workbooks and then they get to do an activity on the computer. This has been a great way for them to work on their typing skills more and also a great way to review. They have some cute games, which makes learning fun! Mini Me is working in the blue book this year and Super Boy is working in the orange book.
Check all their workbooks at Sadlier Vocabulary Workshop.

For writing this year, I am trying A Reason For Handwriting.  The kids are loving it because it's fun and they also learn and write Bible verses, which is a reason I love it too!  The reviews for this have been great and the kids say they are enjoying it better than last year too!  Mini Me is doing Book E and Super Boy is doing Book D. Check them out at A Reason For Handwriting.

We're continuing our Bible with Apologia, the second book in the series called "Who Am I and What Am I Doing Here? We are also loving it and the kids are learning a lot about where their true identity lies. Apologia

We have kept everything else the same with Bob Jones. I really like everything about it and the kids seem to pick up the material better than some of the other things we have tried, especially math. We are still doing Mystery of History and they are dong Chemistry in Co-op.

So far the school year has been going really well, but we are only a week and a day in!  PRAYERS!

Getting Ready for Spring with Tinker Crate

If you're like me, then you are ready for spring!  Our winter was not bad, but I am looking forward to warmer weather, not having to layer on clothes, and doing more outdoor activities!

I love spring for many reasons, but my most favorite is planting things! Whether it's fruit, vegetables or flowers, I just love to plant things and then watch them grow!

To get ready for spring,  I decided to do a fun little activity with the kids.  We made a drip irrigation station and planted some fun things!  Watermelon, sunflowers, peas and wheat grass.  All the materials came in a kit from Tinker Crate.  You really need to check out all the fun things they have pertaining to science.  It's something fun for you and the kiddos.

We can't wait to see how our seeds have grown and then put them into the garden. Hope you check them out and have fun too!!!

No Chemicals For My Blessings

So, for years I have always been on a little mission to keep chemicals out of my house.  I really got serious when I had my two little gifts from God.  I'm still on that mission, but at times I know I failed.  I mean, it's REALLY hard y'all to find things that are really natural or finding something natural that actually works!

I take my victories and celebrate them and I give an evil eye to the things I failed at.  But most importantly, I never gave up.

Recently I began my research again and I came across a company that I have never heard about before. I read their reviews and they were all positive! I thought nothing of it really, but the company kept popping up inside my head or in natural articles I read.  One day I decided that I would order some products and try them out.  What could hurt?  They are all natural and they have the ingredients in them that I love anyway.  My only concern was, do they REALLY work?

Well, I can officially say that they DO work! In fact they work so well that I have signed on with them as a consultant! That's how much I love their products!

I also love them so much that I want to share them with YOU!  Aren't you so lucky!

The company is called Pure Haven Essentials and I LOVE their mission, their company and their products!

They have everything you could think of for just about anything and everything!  Skin care, make-up, pet care, baby care, kids care, house, car, you name it! I will say that they have a Chai Tea candle that smells so good I could drink it!  (and I probably could since it's natural).

Anyway, I would love for you to try their amazing products, if you're like me and so over chemicals that are making us sick!

You can personally visit me on my Facebook page, click here to like or order directly from me at  Pure Haven.

Always ask me if there is a special party number to enter at check out because I am always doing drawing for prizes!  It's my love language to give!

I hope you will try them out because I know you will LOVE them all.
