Summer Field Trips

The kids and I went to visit family and catch up with some friends this summer. Even though it was our vacation, we still needed to so some summer field trips!  One was for fun and the other went along with our Sea Life Study Unit we just finished in May.

First, the kids and I decided to go to a lighthouse museum and then climb 270 stairs to the top! I'm afraid of heights, so this can go on the list of things mommies do for their kids!  The kids loved it and wanted to stay up there forever! No way!!!  They also enjoyed walking around and learning about how the families that worked the lighthouse lived and things they used back in the day.

The kids really enjoyed the museum part of our trip. They really loved seeing the toys and clothes that the children wore in those years. I told them that they should be grateful for what they have.  Have to throw that lesson in there huh?

We also headed to a local Marine Science Center where they rescue hurt sea turtles and birds. The kids love coming here and looking how the turtles are being taken care of. They can also see how they are treating the wounded animals and learn how to take care of our sea life by throwing away trash and being careful on the roads for critters who are crossing the roads.

We got an extra surprise when they had a brain coral on display. The kids just finished learning about the coral reef, so this was a bonus!

The kids also got see and pet some rays. They feel rubbery. They were actually pretty cute and always looked like they were smiling! One even splashed us! Hopefully that meant he liked us!

Of course we also went to the beach for some fun in the sun! Hello! It is vacation!
